Who We Are
The Eden Social Development Foundation (ESDF)
Combating Malnutrition and Poverty Through Soybean Cultivation
The Eden Social Development Foundation (ESDF) is a South African non-profit organisation committed to empowering small-scale farmers to fight malnutrition and poverty through sustainable soybean farming.
For over a decade, ESDF has worked to transform underutilised rural land into productive farmland, while helping communities build skills, income, and food security.
Our approach combines training, technology, and mentorship to equip local farmers—especially women and youth—with the tools to achieve self-reliance. We believe that soy is more than a crop; it’s a bridge to nutrition, dignity, and sustainable livelihoods.
Our Mission
To create lasting change by providing small-scale farmers with the skills, inputs, and support needed to produce, process, and market soybeans successfully.
We aim to promote nutrition security, economic opportunity, and community empowerment across South Africa.
Our Vision
To help farmers help themselves — fostering self-reliant, food-secure, and thriving communities throughout South Africa.
